The Mt. Macedon Fungi Hunt was attended by 35 members and family on 7th July. We were very fortunate as the weather was kind to us, only turning in the afternoon.
After meeting at Mcgregors Picnic Ground in Mt Macedon, and receiving some pointers from Neil Anderson, we set out in all directions from the car park on the hunt for local fungi. Most stayed close, others went a little further afield.
During last night's meeting we were introduced to the concept of stroboscopic imagery and we talked briefly about the use of the rear/second curtain for effect.
I admit that I thought I had more time to prepare for this meeting and the practical elements, but the need to reshuffle the calendar meant we had to move this meeting up, so I didn't get around to developing a practical demonstration of the second curtain in flash photography. I have, however, provided a couple of video tutorials at the end of this article that should help you out.

Our Competitions Subcommittee met on June 4th for the purpose of making our club selections from the images submitted for consideration as entries into the 2019 Knox Interclub Competition.
During the selection process the Subcommittee checks the competition rules, including how many images are allowed per member in each category. We evaluate each submitted image according to standard judging criteria.
If we exhaust the submitted images, and find we do not meet the full quota of the images that are allowed to be selected for our club, we then go back through the images that have been entered into past club competitions to fill up the remaining spots for the Knox Interclub.

Our first weekend away for the year saw approximately 50 members, family, and friends head to Mansfield for a wonderful weekend of exploring and photography.

Richard Tatti hales from Bendigo a country town. Bendigo is one of the last major towns in that part of Victoria which places Richard in a great location for night photography, free from the light pollution of the city of Melbourne. We at Williamstown Camera Club are grateful Richard made the long trip to come along to our club to share his skills through a great presentation to our members.
First comp for the year has us off to a great start. Thanks to everyone who entered and congratulations to those who have earned awards.
This is our first ‘official’ meeting of the year, where we will welcome in the new year with a Sausage Sizzle, a la Graeme. (Thank you Graeme for providing the BBQ.)
We will be socialising, renewing and developing new friendships, and welcoming new members. All you need to bring is something to drink. We will have the usual tea and coffee available.
Please note the slightly earlier start time. Anyone wishing to arrive even earlier (from around 6.30pm) is more than welcome … To assist with the setting-up … of course!
Our three 2018 EOY winners will be giving us a “How I Did It” presentation later in the evening - sharing with us how they made their winning images. And … another reminder ... entries are due for our first competition “Monochrome”.
