Inverloch Weekend Away 2024

Eagles Nest © Matt Peart

The second weekend away for the year saw nine members and their families venture down to Inverloch. Although the number of attendees was lower compared to previous years, those who joined had a wonderful time, thanks to mostly good weather, which did not impact the planned events.

Two sunrises were planned, with daylight savings still over a month away, most members rose nice and early to head down to the beach. The calm conditions made for a lovely morning, with members wandering around to find the best compositions as the sun rose. We even ventured further along the beach to view the shipwreck "The Amazon," which had been well exposed after the severe storms the previous week.

In the afternoon, Andrew Wallace from Wallace & Wallace Sculpture & Photography in Fish Creek joined us at Cape Liptrap. He shared tips and insights on infrared photography and brought two IR-converted cameras for us to try.

Unfortunately, we were unable to do any night photography as the rain set in during dinner at the Inverloch Esplanade Hotel. After another sunrise shoot, we returned to Eagle's Nest, which we had visited the previous afternoon during high tide. This time, at low tide, we were able to wander around and marvel at the dramatic, weathered rock formations. Some members headed home afterward, while others explored more of the local area.

All in all, a great weekend was had by everyone!
