Celebrating 60 Years of the Williamstown Camera Club

In 2025 we celebrate 60 years of the Williamstown Camera Club. Join us for our Exhibition in June and/or enter our 60th Anniversary photography competition.

The Exhibition

This year we celebrate our members and club with our 60th Anniversary Photo Exhibition "Hobsons Bay Through The Lens" at the  Louis Joel Gallery from June 7 to June 25.

The gallery will feature an array of images submitted by our members with three outstanding images chosen from the public competition.

The Competition

In the lead up to our exhibition we are also running a photography competition for the Hobsons Bay community, asking participants to share with us their photo illustrating "A day in the life of Hobsons Bay".

All entries will be featured here on our website and displayed at the launch of our exhibition in June. The three best entries will be printed and put on display as part of the exhibition with the winning entry earning a one-year membership to Williamstown Camera Club and a trophy.

Submission Guidelines

  • Theme
    The photo must represent the theme of “A Day in the Life of Hobsons Bay”.
  • Original Work
    The photo must be original and taken by the entrant.
  • Format
    The photo should be submitted in JPEG format.
  • Submission
    The entry must be submitted via email: entries@williamstowncameraclub.com.au and include the photographer’s full name, title of the photograph and a sentence describing the location and connection with Hobsons Bay Council area.
  • Submission Date
    11th of May 2025
  • One entry per person.

Judging and Prizes

  • Criteria
    Photos will be judged based on theme, creativity, originality and technical quality.
  • Prizes:
    The best three entries will be printed, framed and displayed during the exhibition, Hobsons Bay Through the Lens: 60 Years of Williamstown Camera Club between the 6th and 26th of June at Louis Joel Gallery in Altona.
    First place will receive a one-year membership to Williamstown Camera Club and a trophy.
    All winners receive their printed and framed photograph after the exhibition.
    All non-winning entries will be displayed digitally on a large screen at the exhibition.
  • Notification
    Winners will be notified by email.

Copyright and Usage

  • Ownership 
    Entrants retain ownership of their photos.
  • Exhibition
    All photographs will be exhibited digitally at the exhibition Hobsons Bay Through the Lens: 60 Years of Williamstown Camera Club between the 6th-26th of June at Louis Joel Gallery in Altona, with the best three photographs printed, framed and hung. Photographs will be featured on the Williamstown Camera Club website.

General Conditions & Disclaimer

  • The Williamstown Camera Club is not responsible for:
    • Late, lost, misdirected or incomplete entries.
    • Technical failures of any kind, including but not limited to electronic malfunction or email delivery issues.
    • Human error or unforeseen circumstances that may cause an entry to be omitted from the judging process.
  • By submitting an entry, participants agree to abide by these rules and confirm that their submission complies with the requirements outlined.
  • The organisers reserve the right to:
    • Disqualify any entry that does not meet the submission guidelines or is deemed inappropriate.
    • Make minor edits to submitted text (e.g., descriptions) for clarity or formatting.
  • All decisions made by the judging panel are final and no correspondence will be entered into.

This project is supported by Hobsons Bay City Council through its Make it Happen Grants program.

Upcoming

Judging: End of Year Awards & Dinner

Join us for a night of fun as we award our winners from the year. Awards are given for aggregate point winners and for the images of the year.

For the new members, we have spit roasted meats and salads brought into the Clubrooms. We have found that this works really well as it gives members a chance to chat prior to the EOY Awards presentations. You can bring along some wine/beer and some of the members bring a dessert to share.

Price for the meal is $18.00, please pay into our bank account by November 22nd, with your member number and name as reference: eg: 013Malbon

Meeting: Welcome Back BBQ - Triptych

Our traditional Welcome back BBQ, we provide the food, you bring along what you would like to drink.

In our meeting part we'll discuss what have you done in the break. We will look at what it takes to make a Triptych. And our competitions will be explained.
