A trip to Ballarat, a beautiful regional city of Victoria.

11.00   Meet at Ballarat Station, Lydiard Street North.  

Free parking at this location.  Also free parking at Big W Car Park, Grenville Street North - just a short walk away.  Please note that parking closer into the centre of Ballarat, is metered parking

  1. Wander around the station precinct eg old signal box. 
  2. Then down Lydiard Street North towards Sturt Street (main street) viewing all the old buildings.  
  3. Lots to see between Mair Street and Sturt Street.

1.00  Booking at the Lake View Hotel, Cnr Wendouree Parade and Mill Street, opposite Lake Wendouree.  Lots of parking.  Booking is in my Gayle's.  Please note the hotel has a qr code menu to order and pay or order at the bar.  If you intend on joining us for lunch let us know by Wednesday 15th.

2.30  After lunch, have a wander along Wendouree Parade - the yacht club and boatsheds.  

You can drive or walk around to the other side of the Lake to the Botanical Gardens.  Here is the Botanical GardensPrime Ministers Walk in the gardens and the Horticulture Centre.  

There will be lots of begonias on display as the Begonia festival was on the March long weekend.  There might be a private schools' rowing regatta on the Lake.  The corner of Wendouree Parade and Hamilton Avenue is the Ballarat 1956 Olympic Venue memorial.  Another short drive if you are inclined is the Arch of Victory Memorial, corner Sturt Street and Learmonth Street.

Presentation: Landscapes and Equestrian by Neil Anderson

As a refresher before our landscape competition (entries due August 13, 2024), Neil will reinforce the principles of good landscape photography.

Following this Neil will present his tips and methodologies when it comes to photography equestrian events in support of our day-trip to the Melbourne 3 Day International Event at the Werribee Park National Equestrian Centre (on June 10 long weekend).
