A note from Ian Gofton

For the meeting on the 24th of this month we will be meeting at Seaholme Pier for our light painting evening. We will still be doing the standard light painting that has been done in previous years but want to introduce you to some new light painting ideas that you may not have tried.

At the Pier there is a number of areas/props that we can use to try a range of different light painting techniques. There is the Pier itself, the Boat Owners shed, rock walls and small roofed seat at the end of the car park.

We will be using a range of tools including burning steel wool, light sticks, light blades, light balls, torches and flashes and sometimes a combination of two or three of them in the one shot. The attached images give you an idea of some of these.  All of the images were taken in darkness and are single exposures only.

We plan to have a number of different setups that you can cycle through so you all get a chance to experience the different techniques.  We can guarantee you will end up with some interesting images, maybe learn some new things to try as well as have a lot of fun in the process.

Please note: the access road to the Pier off Beach Street is very hard to see at night as there is no lighting nearby.
